What’s your share of the $861,000,000?

How much of the Township of Langley’s debt do you owe based on your piece of land? Type in your address into the calculator above. Based on your BC assessment data (2024 Assessment) you can see how much of the $861,000,000 you are owing calculated as a percent of total assessed value from Township of Langley Open Data.

Note on the calculator, TOL open data only captures all class 1 properties, misses quite a few farm and a number of business properties without explanation (For example 8661 201St is included but not 8621 201St). In the TOL residential property tax accounts for 63% of all property tax. I have decided not to manipulate data to adjust for this, if you want your share including farm and business taxes I would estimate it to be ~70-80% of what’s calculated but there is no way to know for certain without TOL releasing all data.

See how I that $861,000,000 was calculated on my TikTok video here:

I’ve seen this quote in the paper twice now that long term debt is only $421M. It ignores all the other pools of debt we’ve taken out though. Lets be clear about the actual financial situation of the township of Langley. The real number is more like $860M Correction: on the temporary borrowing slide I said $184M when I meant to say $182.4M #langleybc #TownshipOfLangley #langley
